Question: Assalamoaleikum warahmetullah,

peace be upon the supreme leader of the islamic revolution!

My question is: if somebody makes the intention for prayer and during the prayer he or she realises that the niyya was wrong (for example you made the niyya of 4 Rakat Suher instead you had to pray Qassr prayer), is it allowed to change the nyya during the prayer or is it neccessary to quit and start from the beginning?

Thank you in anticipation and may God bless you!

Answer: That is not necessary and doesn't harm the prayer's validity. It is haraam to cut obligatory prayer out of choice.

Frage: Assalamoaleikom warahmetullah,
